POSITION OVERVIEW Under general supervision of the Parks Superintendent, the Parks Maintenance Technician ensures the parks, athletic fields, and facilities are maintained at a high standard for public use. This is achieved by detailed grounds development and maintenance, performing preventive and routine maintenance, and embracing the culture of Hutto. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Performs landscape maintenance on parks and grounds through mowing, edging, trimming, sawing, beautifying flower beds, and conducting irrigation checks and repairs. Performs maintenance on athletic fields through mowing, edging, trimming, watering, preparing infields, aerate, weed control, marking lines, and apply chemicals as needed. Performs daily inspections of restrooms, pavilions, parking lots, playgrounds, and park grounds. This includes removal of trash, cleaning necessary facilities, and inventory control. Performs routine general maintenance to include painting, general carpentry, fence repair, concrete work, minor plumbing, minor electrical, and power washing. Performs routine maintenance on small engine and heavy equipment to include checking fluid levels, adequate air pressure, clean and change filters as needed. Ability to operate commercial equipment to include zero turned mowers, weed trimmers, sprayers, chainsaws, and heavy duty equipment (backhoe, skid steer, etc…) Supports City of Hutto special events by setting up, tearing down, and other miscellaneous duties.
